Jung Eun Pyo as King's attendant Hyung Sun
Ohh the dramatical Drama! the Intrigue! The convincing characters and storyline that keeps you moving along with interest! This drama is a creatively-written story about an all-consuming love to last the years, and... its also about just how badly things can get mired in political ambition and manipulation.. with just a touch of mysticism thrown in for measure. Favorite character(s): well lessee how to shorten such a long list? Hyung Sun, for his big comical smiles. Jan Shil for being just odd enough to make for an exceptional best friend/sister. and Prince Yang Myung, for finding a way to support his brother when there was much need.
Crown Prince Lee Hwon fell literally for Yeon Woo at first sight. But it was a relationship doomed for a several year fail. For unbeknownst to the two, there was a hidden wrest for power going on that would quickly tear them asunder with forbidden black magic.

Jealousy can be such a powerful motivator and story-maker, can't it? One could see the fated message of tragedy written across the wall of the library part way through the film. Favorite character(s): the film does a wonderful job of introducing us to the character's personalities from the very start, causing good empathy with most of them. Rating this as a hard R/soft X so bear it in mind before watching.
A king who took care to grow and train his own personal guard, is pressured to gain an heir in order to keep his royal seat. There is also an issue with killing a plot to overthrow him in favor of a new replacement. Having no want to be with the queen, he instead orders his lover, the captain of the guard, to do it instead. This results in complete disaster for them, as, jealousy and mistakes spiral out of control.

A rollicking good re-telling, Joseon style, of a French novel by the same name. Well worth seeing imo, even if the King was a bit... too-much a lot of the time.. and really, Dal Hyang (D'Artagnan) should have been added to the musketeer roster at the end imo. Well acted and good adaption. Favorite character(s): Seung Po (the comical Porthos)
There was a conspiracy well in works already, by the time Dak Hyun made it to the city in time for the test. He was quickly put in the thick of things when one of his letters was apprehended, questioned, and lost to the conspirators. A fast and solid friendship is formed just in time to save the country boy from failing the test due to the skewered rump of a mis-targeted horse. Then the prince's mysterious past entanglement of the female kind comes to the forefront along with the King's angry decree to kill the envoy and send a message to the as yet-distant invaders to hurry the call of war. Wonderful story! ..right up until about the 17th episode, when the good guys somehow became incredulously dim and for a time there, I totally lost connection with the tale and began to howl in frustration at the unbelievability. Particularly the female shaman, who seemed to walk brainlessly into the enemy's hands, not once, but more then three times! This in spite of having been told beforehand that the powerful snake priest was wanting to use her for his plans. I also didn't understand, Knowing this bad guy was super bad and powerful, and Knowing they -had- to have more people to help, did they try repeatedly, to go against him with but a single person? Even givin their tendency for self sacrifice, this was the equiv of throwing their lives away for the achievement of nothing what-so-ever. The child who played Rang Yi did a wonderful performance. Favorite scene(s): the introduction of the grown prince, enjoying his time with a ghostly guarded prostitute.
The good king, in efforts to right the wrongs committed by several vengeful ghosts, obtained a special flower at the cost of his sanity and eventual death of much of the royal family and court. The dowager and prime minister lift up the second of the two princes for king, in spite of knowing full well that only the one being ousted from the palace could be the rightful king. Years later, the prince, now grown, is enjoying a life of purposeful ignorance when the dreaded snake priest shows up and worms his way into the palace with intent to re-raise a dragon to smite those who stood in his path. The prince is brought to the 'reality' of the situation and revives the legendary night watchmen to help battle the corrupted spirits plaguing the palace and thwart the priest's evil schemes.

The two little girls in this drama well deserve acting awards for this drama imo. Not to say the others weren't amazing as well, just that Yeon Yi stole the limelight every single time she appeared. Not really a romance.. although there was a fair bit of passion. There are also several tragic death's with a sad ending (along with an incredibly loong soliloquy) I soo felt for the ever-supporting mute guy. Favorite character(s): Yeon Yi, her boyfriend, and Chun Woo.
A Gumiho, trying for 10 years to reach humanity, misses the mark when her hubby spills the beans and she is forced cross-country with her just-shy of 10 year old daughter. After a run-in with a tiger, and then a persistant hunter, They are taken in by a 'benevolent' gentleman with a fairly hostile household. Still, they try to stick it out for a time... eventually getting wound up in a web of deceit, as a local shaman manipulates the family, who are desperate to find a cure for their sick daughter.

A medical time story, semi-romance based on Japanese manga story. The Korean version could have been a little less gross about the operations, I thought, without effecting the solidity of the storyline. Well I survived and hung on through the blood, guts,n gore clear to the end and, all in all, it wasn't that bad of a drama. Favorite character(s): the death defying brother.

The poor doc is in a race against time and the age, all while trying hard to keep the girl who looks exactly like his sick girlfriend, safe, keep history on its correct course as well as to follow his doctor's instincts to save life for those in need, no matter their rank or what side they might be on..

Lots of well done sword-fighting! Not much in the romance genre for this movie, unless you consider the slight glows of preference. Perhaps the story will be continued in a part 2? Here is to hoping. fav scene(s): Kaoru Kamiya's first how-do-you-do with the wanderer. bokken style.

An adventuresome and romantic story with a few comedic scenes. The acting was well performed and the storyline moved right along. Even the cross-dressing Yoon Hee, was fairly believable, especially in the beginning, because of her 'no-nonsense' firm attitude causing a slight roughening her high voice.
Fav scene(s): Making the grade, unwillingly, The uncomfortable attraction of a gisaeng. A marketplace confession, man to man. A player's lime-lit 'pass or fail'.
A woman, dressed as man, while fighting to pay off her family's debts, and her brother's medicine before she is sold, agrees to 'stand in' for someone taking the university entrance exams.. There she meets a nobleman who takes it upon himself to see her into school and further hone her talent as a scholar. The king as well, further encourages the two of them to enroll and before long, she meets her new roomies.. in the form of the straight-laced noble, the rebel 'crazy horse' and his playboy follower. The four of them become close friends while trying to keep their dreams alive against the violable president of the student counsel, the politics of the crown, and the sad happenings of the past. Then one evening, the King presents them with a secret quest that might just have them pitted against their own families and the loyalty they have for one-other.

There were a lot of good elements to this drama. I greatly enjoyed it. Lots of adventure, romantic tension and comic moments throughout. Favorite character(s): The Magistrate, his father, and the Jade Emperor

That evening, he is kidnapped, tied up, and set to stew in the magistrate's office. The next morning, those sure he was killed by the ghost, as had several potentials before, are surprised that not only is he still alive, he's piping angry about being held hostage by a ghost. I don't normally enjoy historicals, But made exception with this drama. A beautiful romantic adventure with a bit of a time twist and a wonderful soundtrack. Fav scene(s): Convincing the General that his new recruit is moving in with him. Telling off the Prince of the court.. in "heaven" words. The banging of pots and dancing to distract and irritate the white-haired flutist. and The 'affair' kiss.
A general practitioner-gone-plastic surgeon is kidnapped by a famous historical figure who is desperately looking for a 'heavenly' doc to help the ailing queen. After which, she gets caught up in political intrigue of the royal court... a young King still learning what it means to be a country's leader, a greedy uncle coveting the crown, an obsessive prince with armies at his command, and the growing love she shared with the general of the Woodalchi guard.

Not really a romance even though there was the occasional 'hidden' glance from Yoon Yi... so this drama remains unrated in this review. It was quite a bit like a historical version of x-files I liked the mystery concept, such as UFO's, appearing in ancient accounts. The ending was rather confusing though, causing more questions then answers in my mind, There are, of course, tragic events in this drama. Fav Character: the scrambling, jittery, chicken, and yet forgiven sidekick.
A noble sees an unexplained happening one day over the ocean, as he and several others attempted to poison a man who claimed ufo's existed. In turn, after giving his report to the emperor, he is severely punished for spinning tales in a plot. An inspector, known for his straight-laced ways, attempts to discover the truth behind the stories and discovers a vacated town and a royal attempt to cover it up. He is then given no choice but to create a reasonable explanation for the fire in the sky many saw. Then he is set on a new mission working in secret with a small team to learn more about the strange happenings in the area.

This drama's storyline is jam-packed with adventure, intrigue and well-rounded characters. and Yongee was such an adorably handsome fast-talker. It was also easy to see just how much his adopted father cared for him... and by what he was willing to give up too. Tragedy involved. Fav character(s): Yongee and Slick

Lee Jun-Ki as Gong-gil
Another historical romance.. with a bit of a twist to the usual and a sad yet 'free' ending... and a few deaths along the way.
Two traveling mistrals travel to Seoul in hopes of finding a minstrel's wage.. they meet and join up with another group and decide the mocking the king is where the money is. This gets them into hot water and are set to amuse the king or lose their lives. fortunately, the king is oddly pleased and makes them his jesters. Unfortunately, he takes a liking to one of the minstrels for a playmate. This tics off and worries his partner. With rumors flying and several royal's lives extinguished by the unstable king things begin to look very grim indeed.
I normally don't care much for period/historical drama's, but this one was a true exception. I Loved it!! It had romance, comedy, mystery/spy, "Amazing scenery!", an engaging plot/storyline, terrific acting, believable characters, and amazing music.
Fav scene(s): William playing the part of a masked goblin.
A young Englishman and his friend are castaway on the shore of what becomes Jeju island at a time when foreigners were not allowed.. in a life threatening sort of way... and they become acquainted with a young diver. At about the same time. A scholar, accused of womanizing, is exiled to the island and takes up residence with the girl and her family. It becomes apparent to the locals soon after, that they have thieves stealing their tithe to the royal crown, creating all sorts of hardship for the village... as the trouble escalates, the castaways, hidden and fed by the girl, realize they might be exposed and reported if they stay much longer, but how to get away?
